- SWITCH: Apps Remote allows switching to controllable applications, toggling iTunes visualizer and coverflow, and toggling fullscreen mode in many applications (remote features worth the price of admission alone). The order is customizable, and you can turn on or off display of any controllable app.
- Click-and-hold works just like on the physical remote in applications; for example, holding the right button fast-forwards, while a single click is ‘next’. This is a feature no other iPhone remote control I know of does properly!
- SLEEP AND WAKE: Put your Mac to sleep by pressing and holding the Play button for 3 seconds while controlling any Apple application, just like the hardware remote. Rowmote automatically wakes up sleeping machines which are connected via Ethernet!
- Stay Connected option allows Rowmote to be ready for action instantaneously after your device has automatically locked, and Prevent Device Sleep option lets you stop your device from automatically locking at all.
- Automatically enables Front Row in Mac OS X 10.4, even if your computer doesn’t have an infrared port.
REQUIREMENTS
• Mac OS X 10.4.0 or later.
• The free Rowmote Helper program, which may be downloaded at www.rowmote.com, must be running on the Mac to be controlled.
• The iPhone or iPod Touch must be on the same wireless network (a computer-to-computer, or ‘Ad Hoc’, network works, as well). If a firewall is enabled, Rowmote Helper must be allowed access or port 5842 must be opened.

Note: If you are currently using Rowmote 1.6, you should upgrade to Rowmote Helper 1.6.1 from www.rowmote.com manually. I didn’t expect to make Rowmote Helper changes in this release, so Rowmote won’t prompt you, but I added the bug fixes below between submitting Rowmote 1.6.1 for review and it being approved.
[Enhancements]
• Rowmote will now automatically wake a sleeping Mac when it attempts to connect. Please note that this requires the Mac be connected via Ethernet (a network cable) rather than wirelessly. Also, the “Wake for Ethernet network administrator access” option must be enabled in System Preferences -> Energy Saver -> Options; it is on by default.
• Pressing buttons in Rowmote now prevents the screen from dimming if ‘dim when idle’ is enabled in your Energy Saver settings.
